Manaslu trek:

Manaslu Trekking offers a combination of rich cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty and a great diversity of flora/fauna. This region was officially recognised as a trekking region in 1992. Some of the pioneer trekker compares the beauty of Manaslu with Annapurna region that the trail is fascinating and more authentic as Annapurna used to be in old days.To trek in this region, you need to obtain the special permit from the Immigration office of Nepal. You also need to obtain the trekking permit for Annapurna region, as well since, for some days you will be trekking in Annapurna region too.

There are only few teahouses and lodges along the trail, which can only accommodate few numbers of tourists. If you are trekking in a big group, its better to do a camping trek. NEAT have all the camping equipment that can cater up to 50 pax. Do not bother to bring yours one.

Normally, the trek begins from Aurughat and ends at Besisahar or vice-versa. The trek begins to get more serious, with the start of the ascent of the Gandaki River Valley, fed by innumerable rivers and waterfalls, where trekkers often enjoy a swim in refreshing river pools and stream. Once you ascend to Deng(1860m), you will start to have better view of mountains. In Samagoan (3450 m.), you can spend a one more night for acclimatization. Visit the glacial green lake and Manaslu Base Camp. Passing through the Larke Pass (5135m) is the most challenging day of the trek although it is very beautiful and scenic with snowcapped mountains all around you.

After crossing the pass, the trail will descend through alpine forests alive with flowers, ferns, pine forest and aqua-blue green lakes which are laced with cotton-white beaches. This three weeks excursion should leave you somewhat fitter with a sense of peace and respect both the people of region and the majesty of the Himalayas.

Acclimatization

When NEAT plan your itinerary, we take everything into consideration about the altitude and other factors to minimize the chance of getting AMS.

Altitude gains-your trek is designed to gain around 600 meters (vertical) altitude daily.

Acclimatization - rest days are included in itinerary to help body adjust to new altitude.

Each trekker must accept responsibility and trek slowly - observe the steps at which the porters and guide walks. There are no worthwhile prizes for getting to destination in record time - generally AMS.

Treatment: Mild symptoms - staying at same altitude may resolve symptoms. If there is no improvement, descend to lower level.

Severe (HAPE + HACE) - descend immediately, as failure to do so could result in death. If symptoms persist you may need to be carried to nearest medical facility or evacuated by helicopter.

We strongly recommend the purchase of trip cancellation and travel insurance. This comprehensive travel insurance provides coverage for trip cancellation and interruption, travel delays, loss of baggage and travel documents, baggage delay, medical expenses and emergency assistance.
